Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to join our team, working on a range of prestigious projects across Belgium. The successful candidate will provide cost and contract management expertise on mechanical and electrical elements, ensuring financial efficiency, accuracy, and control from project inception through to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Management: Provide detailed cost estimates for M&E services, prepare budgets, and tracking expenses against budgets.
  • Tendering & Procurement: Manage the tendering process for subcontractor selection, assess bids, negotiate contracts, and monitor supplier performance.
  • Contract Administration: Administer contracts with clients and subcontractors, handling all documentation, progress reports, and interim valuations.
  • Cost Reporting: Prepare detailed cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and financial statements, ensuring project costs are monitored, controlled, and reported accurately.
  • Variation & Claims Management: Assess and manage contract variations and claims, providing substantiation for claims, and ensuring costs are captured and recovered.
  • Value Engineering: Participate in value engineering and cost-saving initiatives, identifying potential cost reductions without compromising quality.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate commercial risks, working proactively to prevent cost overruns and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaison: Work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and the finance team to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure adherence to Belgian regulations and maintain accurate records and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience as an M&E Quantity Surveyor, preferably on large-scale projects within Europe.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in cost management software (e.g., CostX, CATO, or similar), MS Office Suite, and advanced knowledge of M&E services.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French or Dutch is a strong advantage.
  • Legal Knowledge: Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and local Belgian construction regulations.
  • Other Skills: Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high attention to detail and commitment to quality.
